You can book online at micat.com.au or call 07 3895 1000 for the MiCat vehicular barge. The barge will take you from 14 Howard Smith Drive, Port of Brisbane, to “The Wrecks” which are located on the beach north of the resort. The barge takes walk on passengers but it is too far and sandy to walk along the beach with your luggage. For an extra fee, you can enquire about booking transfers to the resort with MiCat when you make your initial booking. You can also enquire with MiCat about their tours available on the island.
If driving off the vehicular barge, turn right when you get off the barge and then take a short drive along the beach and up a sandy driveway to the “resort guests only” parking along the beachfront. If it is high tide you may need to wait at the Wrecks until low tide before you can get to the resort. There is no designated parking spot for the Villa. If you come to the logs across the beach you have missed the turn off. Moreton Island has no sealed roads and is only accessible by 4WD. Driving is permitted on most of the beaches at low tide and the roads are mostly sand and may be in bad condition. Please ensure that you lower the air pressure in your tyres and bring all recommended off-road safety equipment such as a shovel and tow rope and carry water at all times. You should organize a permit and obtain driving information through the MiCat or contact Mulgumpin Camping directly. You cannot use GPS on the island and phone signal is intermittent so you need to obtain maps and a tide chart. Tangalooma Resort does not allow any driving on the resort’s property. Do not enter any gates. Vehicles are available for hire from the Resort Tours Desk.
